Sunday the New York Knicks swept the Philadelphia 76ers out of the playoffs. Four games. No discussion. Even had Philly fans hoping and wishing for a second — but nope. The Knicks are in the Eastern Conference Finals and the city felt every single bit of it.
Outside MSG, the energy was palpable. Cars honking. Fans chanting sweep. Orange and blue everywhere. And in the middle of all of it — Maino and MRG were out there with the people.
He's With the People
I overheard someone in the crowd say "he's with the people" — talking about Maino. And that's exactly what it was. Fans were flocking to take pictures, losing their minds, someone even said "Knicks won and I saw you" to Maino like it was the perfect ending to a perfect day. Because it was.
MRG was out there shooting a promo video for his song "Feeling Good Today" — and the timing couldn't have been more aligned. The city was already feeling good. He just happened to show up with a camera rolling at exactly the right moment. That's not luck. That's awareness.
The Knicks needed an anthem and MRG delivered one on an orange and blue platter. The fans know it. They were already suggesting Maino hop on the remix — and honestly, who's to say that wish doesn't come true.
What's Next
The Knicks are now waiting in the Eastern Conference Finals while the Cavaliers and Pistons finish their semifinal series — Game 6 is May 15, with a potential Game 7 on May 17. Whoever comes out of that matchup is who New York faces next. ECF dates are TBD but the city is already locked in.
OG Anunoby is recovering and the Knicks have time to be patient. That's a good problem to have.
